Questions about first Stratigraphy Puzzle
    Question #1:  In the first puzzle, if a
    radiometric date has been determined as
    500 Ma for rock formation "A", what can
    we say about the ages of rock formations
    "B" and "C"?

    Question #2:  In the second puzzle, if a
    radiometric data has been determined as
    500 Ma for rock formation "B" AND we  
    found fossils of a giant plankton straining
    fish called a "Leedsichthys" in rock
    formation "D".  This fish is known to have
    lived from 180 Ma to 200 Ma.  Based upon
    this information, what can we say about
    the ages of rock formations "A", "C", and
    "E"?

    Bonus for taking notes on the
    Leedsichthys:  Notes and Links on the
    Leedsichthys:  The Leedsichthys was
    actually around in Jurassic seas about 150
    Ma, a little more recently than the times
    used in the in-class questions.  Information

First, a few notes about Work Completion Expectations and details on the Progress
Reports

1) Class expectations are that work not turned in by passing it in goes into
Science Journals
unless it is asked for directly by me.  Students are regularly
reminded to attach homework from separate sheets into their Science Journals.  
Journals are periodically graded.

2) Any assignments that are listed as "Missing" are not actually missing.  
This is a product of a quirk in the school's grading system.  Missing means the
assignment has not yet been graded and put into the system.  
The items that are
actually missing are the ones that are listed as zeros or NC's.
 X means
excused (bonus assignments fall in this category).

3) The progress report reflects primarily work completion rates.  It doesn't
reflect understanding of content.  Work completion includes both homework and
classwork and much of what is assessed is from the Science Journal.

4) Some assignments have two entries:  One for work completion and one for
grading understanding of the work.  Those assignments will have very similar names
in the left-hand column.

Almost all assignments are listed on my website (both classwork and homework).  
Students should use any snow day and weekends to do some catchup work or
finding work.  Students should use their progress reports as a checklist.

students may find it easier to locate the assignments on this Journal and HW
Catchup Page.  See below.
